What a Difference a Day Makes...

Guess who's pitching a fit to get out in time to watch the NU/USC game at the apartment?

Quite honestly Dan looked like he was on Death's doorstep yesterday...or at least on the same block....when he came back to the room from surgery. And now he's had a bath, brushed his teeth, eaten oatmeal, and started hassling the medical people to get out. I can't believe it.

He was supposed to have a blood cleansing treatment this morning and they've held off on it. They might do it this afternoon. The transplant nurse said they will try not to do treatments that give him heart attacks...and we appreciate that.

Also....in spite all of his other problems....it appears that he will not need to take as much anti-rejection medicine as previously thought and that's good news.

As I said, what a difference a day makes.

Hi Dan and Sandy:
Things sound so much better!! Really glad to hear this news, was bummed out from the Blog yesterday. I know that they can get you going again, and ready for a foot race before long. Paticularly if you think that you need to see the HUSKER'S on a big screen!
Thinking about you both and waiting for the "release" news as I have an idea how miserable hospital life can become when you are starting to feel better. Keep the anitrejection movement going for a quick realese and a returm to full health, I know that will really feel strange for a while but geterrrrr done.
Later,
Love,
Jamie

You REALLY are doing incredibly well, Dan. When I compare your progress with my brother-in-laws post-kidney transplant a year ago, I am increasingly impressed. WOW!
How are the blood sugars? It is well you are CALM about the whole process and progress as EMOTIONAL STRESS is not to be a factor - the PHYSICAL is certainly more than enough! mcm

The leaves are turning golden and snow is expected Sunday night in the Custer area.

Hi Dan and Sandy:
Sounds as though you're moving right along with your rehab. When I went through a couple of years of rehab with my first broken neck, I determined that it was sort of like dancing (two steps forward and one step backwards). I always figured that those were pretty good odds. Keep up the positive out look pretty soon you'll be taking two steps forwards and zero steps backwards.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Ed and Vicki Greivel

Never under estimate the power of Husker Mania! Being a Kansan, I am constantly amazed at this. Whatever it took to start you on this path, we rejoice in the change. There was a fellow from Gretna on Wheel last night - Dad's favorite show. He was the big winner, too.
All our prayers continue for you both.
